A voluminous carved and painted bird, probably an offering of a goose with feathers finely rendered in pigment on underside. Wings would have been attached at the top. 

Egypt, Middle Kingdom, C. 2055 - 1650 BC.

Size: 17 cms Length.

Condition: Fragment on one leg, good detail remaining, some surface paint and wood loss.

Provenance: Ex. Christies London Sale, Lot 162, Antiquities, 28th April 2009. Acquired in Egypt during the 1930-1940's.
