An elegant Heart scarab with a plain carved semi-translucent brown stone. These amulets were placed on the chest of the mummy to be used in the weighing of the heart ceremony.

Background: The heart scarab was used in the weighing of the heart ceremony (chapter 30 from the Book of the Dead), being balanced against a feather by Goddess Ma'at to determine whether the soul (BA) would ascend to the field of Reeds.

Size: 2 x 1.3cms. 

Condition: Intact, no damage.

Provenance: Ex. Private Collection: Sweden; acquired between 1940 - 1960.
